Blenko Suncatcher- MOTHMAN in Charcoal 2021

Here we have a neat handcrafted Blenko suncatcher, crafted in charcoal glass- a gray with a green tint. This will look more green when hanging with light behind it.  This features West Virginia's own Mothman!  These were produced in limited quantity last year- most were produced in purple, a handful in tangerine.  Someone decided to make them in charcoal this year.  These are a little out of round in how they were stamped, but that diminishes in large part when hung in light- see picture of representative pieces. May have bubbles.  These are great in this color.  Will they make more?  I have no idea- maybe, maybe not!
These measure approximately 4  inches in diameter.  Has a hole drilled for your hanger, not included. Stamped Blenko 2021 on the back.

Each of these pieces are completely handmade and thus will vary slightly.  The process is:
The gatherer bring a blob of hot glass to the craftsman, who shears off the desired amount.  He takes the carved metal mold/stamp and stamps it down on the ball of glass, flattening it and making the design.  The piece cools briefly, is slid over to a paddle and carried to the lehr where it cools slowly, which keeps the piece from cooling too quickly and helps harden the glass.  After several hours of cooling, the pieces are taken to the grinding department where they are drilled for hanging.   Each piece will vary slightly!
