Description
From the Blenko factory of Milton, West Virginia. This is the very popular # 37 (1937) decanter in crackle glass with ruffled top. It is not marked or labeled. What makes this one unusual is the stopper. On page 48 in book "Blenko Cool 50's & 60's Glass" by Leslie Pina, there is a photo of two of the # 37 decanters, one with the popular flame stopper version that is usually seen. The other has the teardrop stopper that was phased out of production. These teardrop stoppers are rarely seen in any Blenko decanters. At first I thought it was not the right stopper, but then I found this information in the Blenko book. The stopper is the exact same color as the decanter. It is hollow with a single "bubble" inside. The stopper doesn't fit down into the decanter as far as it probably should....there is a little piece of glass inside the neck that didn't get ground down that is blocking it a little. In great shape for age. Don't see any nicks or scratches. Normal wear on bottom. There is a little cloudiness or dirt in the very bottom. See photos.Approximately 12" tall with stopper, 9 1/2" without stopper x approximate 5" at widest. Weighs 2 1/4 pounds.
